American Visa: How to apply for it?
If you are Honduran and wish to travel to the United States, it is essential to obtain an American Visa, the only document that allows you to enter the country.
Below, we detail the process, costs and the different types of visas available.
Application Procedure
- Access the Visa application link and fill out the form with your personal information and purpose of travel.
- Attach a digital color passport photo, not older than 6 months.
- Once the form is submitted, you will receive an appointment at the U.S. Embassy, located in M.D.C., Avenida La Paz, Tegucigalpa.
- During the appointment, you will present the required documents and you will be interviewed to detail the reasons and details of your trip.
- In approximately one month, you will be notified if your Visa has been approved.
Required Documents
The application for a U.S. visa for Hondurans requires certain fundamental documents that guarantee the identity and purpose of the visit. These are detailed and briefly explained below:
- Honduran Passport: It is the most essential document for any type of international travel. It must be in good condition and, preferably, be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the United States. The passport will be stamped with the visa once it is approved.
- Identity Card: This official Honduran document certifies the identity and nationality of the applicant. Although the passport already serves as identification, the cédula reinforces data verification and confirms the applicant’s legal status and residency in Honduras.
- Printed Application Form: Also known as the DS-160, this online form must be filled out with accurate and honest information. Once completed, a confirmation page with a unique barcode must be printed. This page is crucial for the interview at the embassy or consulate.
- Digital Photo ID: The photo must meet the specifications dictated by the U.S. Department of State. It is important that it is recent (no more than 6 months old) and clearly shows the applicant’s face on a white or light cream background. The photo will be used for visa and identification purposes.
- Proof of Payment of Visa Application Fee: There is a fee associated with the application process. Once the payment has been made, it is essential to keep the receipt, as it will be required during the interview process at the embassy or consulate. It is advisable to verify the updated fees, as they may vary depending on the type of visa and changes in immigration policies.
Costs
The fees we will be asked to pay are $160 or 3,862 Honduran Lempiras. For adults, the visa is valid for 10 years, while for minors, it can be renewed every 5 years.
In any case, when requesting the consular appointment, you will be informed step by step how to make the payment and exactly how much it amounts to.
