Mobile Consulates of Honduras in the U.S.
The mobile consulates of Honduras in the U.S. are temporary and itinerant initiatives carried out by the Honduran government with the objective of providing consular services directly to Honduran communities residing in areas distant from the fixed consulates.
These mobile missions facilitate procedures such as the renewal of passports, civil registrations and other essential documents, saving citizens from having to travel long distances.
This service seeks not only to facilitate access to essential services but also to strengthen ties between the Honduran diaspora and their country of origin.
Right now the embassy is in the process of defining the mobile consulates there will be in 2024, as soon as they announce the destinations, we will inform as always quickly.
Mobile Consulates in 2023
In 2024 we know that there will be some 24 consulates, as announced to us, and we hope that they can be located in places where there are no fixed consulates right now.
If we look at what happened in previous years, the Government of Honduras launched eight Honduran Mobile Consulates in 2023, following the instructions of President Xiomara Castro.
These initiatives, carried out in collaboration between the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (SRECI), the National Registry of Persons (RNP), and the National Migration Institute (INM), focused on areas with scarce consular presence.
The mobile consulates offered services from November 16 through December 10 in cities such as Jacksonville, San Antonio, Raleigh, Richmond, Nashville, Kansas City, Salt Lake City, and Philadelphia.
Services included the issuance of legal documents, ID cards and passports, which were accessed through an online platform to schedule appointments. The results indicate that more than 30,000 consular services were provided, with 16,042 legal documents and passports issued.
In addition, the issuance of 13,198 electronic passports was reported and 13,718 nationals were attended to for procedures related to the DNI.
For those seeking to use these services, it is announced that new Mobile Consulates will be scheduled for 2024, an action that follows the President’s promise to serve the migrant population.
As a Honduran reading this news, it is vital to be informed and prepared to take advantage of these opportunities, maintaining realistic expectations about processes and attention times.
As soon as we have the announcements, we will share them here.
